10th Combat Support Hospital Training Facility

This Design/Build project was the result of a close collaboration between end-user and contractor. The team had to develop the project within a Congressionally-mandated budget. Budget constraints helped define a highly efficient design which has the equipment “stacked’ in 2-story shelving. Built into the shelving are electrical outlets which are sized and located specifically for each piece of equipment. The building is served by a 1200- amp electrical service and the equipment is constantly being charged and diagnosed. The temperature in the building is maintained at a constant level to ensure that medications are not ruined by erratic temperature fluctuations.
The delivery and commissioning of this facility was provided on a very fast track schedule. The design and construction was accomplished in nine months from concept to completion. To speed site construction, it was decided to construct the building using a pre-engineered metal building design on a fairly conventional spread footing foundation. Mechanical and electrical systems were designed and constructed by the subcontractors, with very close coordination with the other finish trades employed.
The building includes two flexible classrooms which are equipped with the latest closed circuit, satellite linked television system.
The building also includes a comprehensive maintenance facility that allows upkeep of medical equipment on an on-going basis and is also equipped with a full-service kitchen and food service facility.
U.S. Army Reserve Center Training Facility

This new construction project was for a 45,000 sf facility for the Armed Forces Reserve Center at Fort Carson, CO. The building is constructed of block, brick, and structural steel. Half the building is an armory that included a concrete vault. The other half of the building is 2-stories and includes conference rooms, offices, library, administrative spaces, classrooms, restrooms, fire sprinkler suppression system, and a mechanical room
